Phase-1 Composting Timeline
Wetting & Stacking
Soak wheat straw for 24 hours. Stack with chicken manure in 5 ft high windrows.
1st Turn + Additives
First mechanical turn. Add urea and gypsum. Ensure 70% moisture.
2nd Turn
Turn and check temperature (should reach 70°C). Add water if needed.
3rd Turn
Compost should be dark brown. Check for ammonia smell.
4th Turn
Temperature should peak at 75°C. No ammonia. Moisture 68-72%.
5th Turn
Final conditioning. Compost ready for Phase-2 tunnel loading.
